Come out to meet nonprofits big and small, explore volunteer opportunities across a wide range of causes, and find the organization that’s the right fit for you. We’ll be hosting over 100 of our community partners in one convenient location so you can learn more about the role they each play in our city and how you can get involved.

Civic Café: St. Louis on the Rise Again

For decades, St. Louis City has experienced population decline while surrounding suburban area populations climb. As a result, many neighborhoods in St. Louis, particularly downtown, struggle to retain vibrant and economically successful businesses. However, there is cohort of passionate professionals working to push St. Louis to a new level of economic development. This week, we will learn about the different efforts to revitalize and grow the economy of St. Louis and how residents across the region will benefit from these efforts.

Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement Kickoff: Building a Culture of Community Engagement at WashU

The Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement is an elective classification that recognizes U.S. colleges and universities for their institutionalized commitment to community engagement. This kickoff event will build awareness of the self-study process, celebrate the community engagement work already underway across WashU, and unite our efforts across schools to deepen our impact in and with St. Louis.

The Power of Partnership: A Community Engagement Convening

Real change happens when communities and universities stop working in parallel and start building together. The Power of Partnership brings community-based organizations, community members, and academic partners into one room for a day of honest exchange and shared learning to begin collective problem-solving.
Centering the voices and expertise of community-based organizations, this convening moves beyond one-off, transactional projects toward something more durable: partnerships rooted in mutual trust, shared frameworks, and the infrastructure needed to sustain equitable, community-engaged scholarship over time.
Expect candid conversation, practical tools, and connections that outlast the day itself. Come ready to learn from one another, challenge old models of engagement, and help build the shared foundation for partnerships that truly work — for communities and scholars alike.
