DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nThis Community of Learning is a collaborative professional learning initiative designed to strengthen field education through structured professional development\, reflective supervision\, and continuous quality improvement. This initiative supports practicum instructors across participating universities and community organizations while fostering stronger partnerships between academic institutions and community-based practice settings.\n\n\n\nThe first workshop in the Community of Learning series lays the foundation for the practicum instructor role — clarifying what the role asks of you and how to set up a learning experience that supports students from the start.\n\n\n\nFacilitated by Ebony Hutchinson\, MSW\, LCSW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe first workshop will take place in the Berges Family Foundation Conference Center (Delmar DivINe\, 5501 Delmar Blvd).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP for the first workshop\n\n\n\n\nWhat this first workshop will cover\n\n\n\n\nThe practicum instructor's role as educator\, mentor\, and professional role model\n\n\n\nAdult learning principles and how they shape effective supervision\n\n\n\nStructuring learning agreements\n\n\n\nCreating psychologically safe\, inclusive supervision environments\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPracticum instructors take on one of the most important roles in professional education — shaping how students learn to actually do the work — often with little formal preparation for it. And most of the professional development meant to support them arrives as a single training that fades just as fast.\n\n\n\nWhat can you expect to get out of your involvement?\n\n\n\n\nGreater confidence in the instructor role\n\n\n\nStronger reflective supervision and feedback skills\n\n\n\nTools for supporting diverse learners\n\n\n\nA cross-organizational professional network\n\n\n\nSupervisory practices you can apply immediately — not just discuss\n\n\n\n\nWorkshop series\n\n\n\nWorkshop 1 — PREPARE: Building High-Quality Practicum Learning Experiences —Sept. 11\, Delmar Divine - Berges Family Foundation Conference Room (10AM-12PM)\n\n\n\nWorkshop 2 — PARTNER: Building Collaborative Practicum Relationships — Nov. 6\, Virtual (10AM-11:30AM)\n\n\n\nWorkshop 3 — DEVELOP: Developing Professional Identity Through Reflective Supervision — TBA: Spring 2027\n\n\n\nWorkshop 4 — LAUNCH: Preparing Students for Workforce Readiness — TBA: Spring 2027\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
