David Pole, PhD, joined the staff of the Confluence Collaborative for Community Engagement in August 2025 as the community-engaged education manager. He has worked in health care and health promotion in the private, public, and higher education sectors. Most recently, he was a faculty member at Saint Louis University, focusing on interprofessional practice and education (IPE) to advance improved care and outcomes in the clinical and community settings.
Dr. Pole has experience with the integration and application of continuous quality improvement (CQI) in a community-based practicum and in undergraduate and graduate courses to align interprofessional education with student learning outcomes. He was the assistant director of the CQI Council for WashU Medicine and is a distinguished scholar for the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education. He believes strongly in the application of the IPE definition of “learning about, from, and with others to improve effective collaboration and outcomes” to his work to advance dignity, justice, and health equity.
He enjoys gardening, photography, cooking, and traveling.
